what up yall?
Here are some answers to your questions:
We no longer teach Sunday School, they have a Gospel Principles teacher in the ward, but on Saturday we got a call from a lady in the ward, and she asked me and Elder Badger if we could teach the laurels class about the restoration of the priesthood, so we had to come up with a lesson plan on the spot. It actually went pretty good, we just took a couple of principles each and it was good.
We are on what is called a car share, so we have a car for 3 weeks, and then we are on bikes for a week. My first week was bike week, and then the last two have been car so we have one more then we are back onto the bikes.
You asked about the rain? Ya it is coming down out there. You wouldn't believe the rain here, it is crazy... so much worse than Utah. I found out that Arkansas/Memphis get just as much rain as Washington a year, but instead of it being like a constant drizzle like it is in Washington, it just dumps buckets once a week, it is crazy.
We did end up having the Baptism, and it was one of the coolest things ever. I sent you a picture of everybody. There were 7 people baptized and it was awesome. I got to baptize Diamond and then I got to confirm Fildal the next day in Sacrament Meeting, that was definitely the coolest part, it was my first time doing that and I was a little worried, but then I started going and knew exactly what to say., I didn't even say the stuff I was thinking about saying... the spirit is unreal.
Stephanie's baptism was super cool, she is scared to death of water so when she started climbing in the font she started to cry, and she freaked out the first time and just sat there and cried for a few minutes and then had to do it again. She has been through some stuff to be able to get baptized, it was so awesome to see her over come her fear of water as well so she could get baptized. I will send home my sim card and it has a video of all of them and she mentions getting in the water, it is pretty funny.
Last night we had an awesome lesson with this girl, it was cool. She had never prayed out loud before and was scared to death to, so we ended up sitting on her porch for 2 hours at the end till she gained the courage to do it, it was super cool. she gave a great prayer. it was tight.
If you could, I also need a copy of the movie "Joseph Smith, prophet of the restoration", and tell Dad that he needs to find the talk "awakening to our awful situation" by Jack Monett. It is one of the craziest things ever. It is by an apostle talking about 911. It's a long one, but I think yall would love it.
Oh, I heard that my investigator in Blytheville A.J. Terrel was Baptized, he was an awesome guy, so I'm so glad he made it.

I love you guys, glad to hear all is going well. can't wait to talk to you.
oh and I hit 6 months soon!! I get to burn a tie!!

love, Elder Nelson

Hey Pops, Things are going good. We had a pretty good week this week. On Saturday we knocked on this guy naned Brian's door, and he let us in. He is one of the coolest guys ever. He is 20 and he was just like, "I know there is a reason you guys came here today, and he came to church the next day. He hasn't been to church in like 5 years, and we are talking about baptism, he wants to get baptized, but he wants to make sure first. The whole thing was pretty sweet, how we found him and everything, definately led there by the spirit. We have 3 baptisms this weedkend that should happen. This lady and her two kids, I'm excited. The new ward is pretty cool, there are actually 8 missionaries serving in just this ward, so there are a lot of baptisms and we are around other missionaries a lot, it makes it a little more fun than being 100 miles away from the nearest other set of missionaries. Don't worry Pops, we are staying safe. We were talking about this the other day, and how watched over and protected we are as missionaries, and we are always just comforted when going into a shady spot. We were laughing because everyday we do something that back home we would have been scared to death to do, like walking through some apartments where some guy was threatening to shoot us haha, but you have to do it, the work must go on, and it's like it doesn't matter. We don't even give it a second thought. We are living in a big house that is actually in Raleigh Tennessee and our next door neighbors are actually members, the Carter's. They are pretty cool. Being in such a big ward, I don't think we really get as personal of a relationship with the members like we did in Blytheville, but it is still pretty sweet. Well, we have to run, sorry for being short but we just got a call and have to run back to the apartment. Love you, talk to you next week... Love Elder Nelson! p.s. I love playing ball with the black guys, they call me the "white Kobe"!!! haha p.p.s. could you send me my basketball shoes, or send me money to buy some?

Elvis Sighting!!!

I have been looking for Elvis and guess what, I found him... He is in our ward here in Frayser. There is seriously an Elvis impersonator in our ward, and he stays in character at all times. He never even takes off his sunglasses. He got up and bore his testimony this week and it was awesome.... From Mom: I always knew Elvis was alive, just didn't know he had "converted" Yeah!

April 11, 2011 Howdy from Frayser Tennessee!!!

Howdy from Frayser Tennessee!! I'll go ahead and answer your questions. 1) where are you, i am in Frayser Tennessee, it is just outside of downtown Memphis. haha if you were worried about me in Blytheville you definitely should be now haha Frayser is the gggghetto! haha 2) who and how is your new companion? where is he from? my new comp is Elder Badger, he is the man. He is from Davis I believe. He was a football and basketball player in high school, so we have some stuff in common. He is also one of our zone leaders. The house we live in is pretty sweet, it is known as the Frayser house. We have 4 missionaries there. The two of us and then Elder Peay and Elder Fry. They are both awesome. we have some good times. 3) when I left my investigators were doing good. I was really sad to say good bye, and I actually had a few crying, it was sad. and then a group of kids we play ball with in the hood started crying when I told them I was heading out, it was rough. I also had some nice comments from some of the members. The Corbett's had us over the last night for ice cream and cookies and brother Corbett had gone out and bought me a cardinals hat. They are awesome. 4)have been wondering about Sammy Dodd? is he still strong? so Sammy suddenly stopped coming to church for like 2 months. when we would go over he was saying he had stuff come up... turns out he decided to go back to his old church. but i went and said goodbye to him before i left. and he told me he would go back. sometime. who knows. So my first week in Frayser was pretty nuts. We had a baptism of a lady named Star, she is one of the coolest people ever. We were supposed to have a mom and her two kids get baptized, and the little girl had actually asked me to do it but then some stuff came up so it won't be happening till the 23rd, but they are awesome. They came to church and the little boy (fildal) was sitting by me, and I asked him if he would go bear his testimony if i did, and he said no way. So I asked why and he said because he doesn't know what to say, so I told him to walk up and say the church is true amen, and he was like alright. So we went up. He went first and it was awesome. then I went, and I turned around and he was waiting for me to go back to our seats. It was awesome. He gave me a hug and we rolled to our seats, no one could believe he did it, including his mom. it was so cool. haha We get fed quite a bit more here than we did in Blytheville, I think we have been fed 4 times this week. it is nice, but im worried im going to pack on the pounds. oh well. I will be alright. Not much else goin on. hopefully I have some good stories for you next week. I love you guys. thank you so much for everything! love elder nelson PS. I always feel safe, I have God on my side... haha

March 4, 2011 So long Blytheville...

hey yall! I haven't gotten an email from home yet, so I will just shoot one out haha This week was pretty awesome with conference and all. We had 7 investigators come. Sarah Rogers brought almost all of her family, it was pretty awesome. I love their fam. and she loved it. She told us that she has been praying for a church home where she could just go and sit and learn and she believes we were an answer to their prayers. It's pretty awesome. We are also teaching a guy named A.J. he is married to a girl in the ward here and has always been against the church, but he came to church a couple weeks ago and the next day we got a call saying he wanted to hear the lessons.. he has a baptismal date for april 23. pretty cool stuff only thing is. I'M GETTING TRANSFERED!!!! its nuts. we start getting all of these awesome investigators and I get booted... its all good though. there will be new people to meet wherever I end up. I will like it. I wish I knew where I was going. I have gotten some hints that it is another ghetto area. which is all good with me, I seem to fit in on the ghetto side of town anyways haha so after Pres. Monson's talk in Priesthood, and elder Scott's talk. elder Boise and I talked to each other and decided that for some weird reason, we both want to get married really bad haha only problem is I just got out on my mission. it is really weird. not a whole lot else going on other than a tornado warning.... we are hoping we see one, that would be sweet. nothin yet though. I love you guys. love elder nelson
