It's a small small world...

This past week we learned that my dear friend Julie Gibbons and her husband Dan have been called as Mission Presidents of the Arkansas, Little Rock Mission starting in July, when Pres. and Sister Drewes are released. Julie and I spent 6 years together in the Stake Young Women's Presidency (and also grew up in the same ward), and President Gibbons was my parents bishop as well as living across the street. We are amazed and excited!!! It is a very small world.

Thank you Corbett's for taking care of our Missionary!

The ward here is pretty awesome. We spend alot of time with the Corbetts, they are like family... They are the ones who's son is in Arizona, they basically have taken the missionaries in as their kids until their son comes home. They are awesome.

First Transfer, Staying in Blytheville...So long Elder Boice

Thank you and good luck to Elder Boice, a great trainer, companion and friend... We had a lot of great times!!!
Hey yall!

Alls well up here in good ole bly vegas. This week was pretty sweet, went on exchanges with another greeny from Jonesboro, he came over here, his name is Elder Bradshaw and we taught up a storm one of the days, it was pretty sweet.

Q & A
1) How are your investigators coming?
the investigators are doin well. Things are kinda on hold right now with our baptismal dates. 2 of them live in caruthersville, Ronnie and Allen. Ronnie was supposed to be in church this week, but didn't come, we don't know what is going on. Allen is looking good but the member that he lives with had a stroke this week so they are up in n. Missouri at the hospital for awhile. we do have one baptismal date, Jessi ottinger, that is doin well. pretty sure he will get baptized, just have to teach him everything.
2) Have you still dodged the bullet on speaking in church? At least you now have a talk ready...haha I'm glad it was the Corbett's that did that to you and not me!!! i have dodged the bullet so far. but i did teach gospel principles yesterday, it went well i think, it is weird, i am not a fan of it.
3) How is your teaching going? the teaching is goin. I'm not quite the teacher i can be yet. i have a ton to learn.but it will come along.
4) were the valentine cookies still fresh when you got them??
yes the cookies were fresh, and awesome.
5) Was the planner cover okay? I was hoping to get all of the grand kids to help, but I never was able to get them together at the same time. Send more.
yes the planner cover was sweet, I'm carrying it around right now. it looks good. i will send another one home with my next box.

So we got a call from President this morning, Elder Boice is getting transferred over to Jonesboro so we will still be in the same district, we will go down to transfer meeting on Wednesday and find out who my new comp. is, hope he is a good one haha

not a whole lot else going on. we are going to play some baseball in a few...
oh! we got the cops called on us last night. it was sweet, we chained our bikes to a stop sign because Elder Boice got a flat, and some lady thought we were somehow scheming (or however you spell that) and were going to use the bikes to come and shoot her family, it was ridiculous. haha

hope all is well at home. the mission is the bomb . com
love yall.

Keeping up in Blytheville!

Proud of who we are!

Eating at the Pizza Inn with our

Bro Sammy!

Happy Valentine's Day Feb. 14, 2011

hey yall!

That is sweet that everybody is getting their calls right now, tell everyone congrats for me, that is way exciting. I have been praying for chase as well, that would be tough to have to come home.
I got to fix one of your statements mom. haha our church doesn't "mirror" Jesus Christ's church... it IS Jesus Christ's church haha the same dang one! greatest thing ever!
I just wish more people could understand that.
I have to reprimand you for taking Stella to the Justin Beiber movie too... that is terrible. that kid... just terrible haha
The work is going good, on Wednesday we made it up to Caruthersville and had some good lessons. We were able to set a date with Allen smith, we also set dates this week with Phillip foster who is the guy who had a date when I first got out and then disappeared, and we set a date with a guy named Jessi Ottinger who just got married to a lady in the ward, hopefully I stay around for another transfer so I can see them go through.
On Saturday we had exchanges, that is what the picture of the 3 of us in the truck are. It is me, elder kelly and the ward mission leader Chuck Layton. We had a good time and had some really good lessons, other than a guy and his gf who where wasted haha elder Kelly might be in Lindsay and Tim's ward by the way, he lives right over by the stake center, that would be pretty sweet if he was, he is for sure in their stake though.

So the story for the week, on Saturday night we are getting ready for bed. and we get a call from the Corbett's... they said they were sick and weren't going to be able to speak in church the next morning and that we were speaking...yep as you can imagine, I freaked out and started writing a talk, went into bed at midnight and slept probably a total of an hour then about 15 minutes before church they call and say that it was all a joke...it was terrible. haha life of a missionary...

anyways. everything is goin well out here. I miss yall like crazy but I'm enjoyin what i am doin.
love you guys

Hey pops,

Everything is goin pretty darn good. I heard about Sloan, we decided that we are now going to refer to d will as D- bag because that's what he is. The jazz will miss Jerry.
The teaching is goin well, we have 4 dates right now, one with Ronnie for the 26th of this month and then Allen smith, Phillip foster and Jessi Ottinger are on the 12th of march, they are all pretty solid I think. Allen needs to quit smoking, but is improving. Ronnie needs to figure some stuff out. and Phillip needs to come to church, but were praying for them. I won't find out till next Monday whether or not I am going to get transferred, they tell you Monday, and then you leave on Wednesday, who knows what will happen, we will see. Everything seems to be holding up well. The front of my shoes are falling off, just the rubber, but they are holding up well. water doesn't get through them.
The weather is awesome today. We are about to head over to play some basketball in the park, it is in the upper 50's i think.

Love you, Elder Nelson

Greetings from the BLY... Feb. 7, 2011

hello everyone!

I have a story to make you proud this week haha so on saturday we had an eating contest with Sammy dodd at pizza inn, to start off our fast. i won... and i ate 40 pieces of pizza... not a joke. 40 pieces. elder boice had 27 and sammy had 19
As far as investigators, we lost helen and eva it looks like, but ronnie is still looking good, he has a date set for the 26th. we also are teaching a guy named allen, who is looking promising, he lives with a member of the ward. We also met a lady named diane, she is awesome. and we asked her to be baptized, she said yes but we haven't yet set a date. keep praying for us to find people. the finding is rough!!

I tought gospel principles yesterday... on the creation, it went alright i think, I hate teaching, it is stressful!! dont know why, but it is. Elder Boice and one of the members make some great comments and it really helps.

we were trackting the other day and met a family that was out playing football, I picked up the ball and tossed a bomb to one of them haha they now call me Tebow... they see missionaries and don't think we can walk with coordination haha it was sweet, they seem to like us and one of the daughters is reading the bom now.

We had another chick hitting on us too, haha we walked out of bk the other day. and this girl runs out and was like hey the girl in there wants to know if yall have girlfriends... haha we told her no and that we couldn't for 2 years and whatnot, but we decided that from now on we are just going to tell them that "we are companions" and leave it at that.

Things are goin in the bly though. We are workin hard and praying for some success, it will come. everything back home sounds like it is goin well. I'm not happy you waited till i left to get new phones haha. oh and go jimmer!! he is the man!
love yall, talk to you next week.
